Uninsured Motorist Coverage, Is it really necessary?
October 20, 2016
There are so many different coverage options for your auto insurance policy, that many people start asking if it is all necessary. A coverage that can be quickly looked over from a policy is the Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage. You may think, “I’m a good driver so I won’t cause any accidents, and if someone hits me it is their fault and they will pay for it!” But this may not always be the case. What happens if someone hits you, and they don’t have insurance, or they don’t have enough insurance to cover the cost of fixing your car?
Did you know that in Washington State, 1 in 7 drivers DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE? You see how many cars there are on the road every day while you are sitting in traffic (It seems to be getting worse and worse!). Next time count how many cars you can, and then repeat the 1 in 7 statistic from above. That is pretty eye opening!
So next time you are looking over your auto policy and you see Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage, don’t dismiss it. It could save you quite a bit in the long run!
